Chicago Fire didn’t air a new episode last Wednesday. What about this week? Is there going to be a new episode on Wednesday, Nov. 24?
Let’s get straight to the bad news. There isn’t a new episode of Chicago Fire on tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 24. The show is on a bit of a break right now, but we do have a return date to look forward to.
The fall finale is going to air on Wednesday, Dec. 8. NBC has a mixture of reruns and specials until that date.
Is there a rerun of Chicago Fire tonight?
If there isn’t a new episode, will we at least get a rerun? Sadly, that’s not happening this week. NBC has opted for a two-hour Saturday Night Live special for Thanksgiving. This isn’t all too surprising considering specials on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving tend to happen. There will be a rerun of Chicago Med to kick off the night, and the SNL episode will begin at 9/8c.
We usually find that the One Chicago shows have gone on their winter break before Thanksgiving. This year is working a little differently, with the last episode of 2021 airing in December.
Why isn’t there a new episode of Chicago Fire tonight?
So, what’s with the delay? It’s going to be twofold this week.
The biggest reason is the pandemic. It’s causing problems for filming, slowing down the production process. Many shows have gone on breaks here and there because of this, so it’s not surprising that Chicago Fire also needs to.
This week’s break is also linked to Thanksgiving. From the Wednesday before Thanksgiving throughout the weekend, it’s very unlikely we’ll see new episodes of anything. People are spending time with their families instead of watching new episodes of TV shows. The broadcast networks can’t face the dips in the live ratings.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
