All eyes are on Chicago PD. The procedural drama packed several punches into its last episode, the most notable being the decision that Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) will have to make in giving Voight (Jason Beghe) over to the FBI.

The wild thing is that the episode doesn’t even mark the mid-season finale for season 9. There’s still one more to go before Chicago PD goes on its lengthy holiday hiatus. The big question coming off last night’s scheduling is whether the mid-season finale aired on Wednesday, November 24.

Here’s what we know about Chicago PD‘s holiday schedule and here’s what you should know.

When will Chicago PD return?

No, Chicago PD was not on last night. The time slot that’s usually reserved for PD and its fellow One Chicago series, Chicago Fire, were taken up by a two-hour Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving special. The only One Chicago title to get air time on Wednesday, November 24, was Chicago Med, and even still, it was a rerun of an earlier episode from season 7.

Chicago PD has a bit of an odd schedule for the rest of 2021. It was completely missing from the NBC lineup last night, and will screen a rerun during its usual time slot on Wednesday, December 1. It will then return on December 8 with a brand new episode that will serve as the mid-season finale. Once that airs, however, Chicago PD will resume its hiatus and go silent until its scheduled return in January 2022.

There haven’t been many details surrounding the mid-season finale, though its safe to assume it provides some insight into Halstead and his Sophie’s Choice. The veteran cop will have to figure out a way to save his own skin while preserving the freedom of Voight (if he so chooses).

Don’t expect any clear-cut resolutions, though. Since its a mid-season finale, fans are almost guaranteed to get a stress-inducing cliffhanger that throws the future of the IU into even more turmoil. It’ll be tense, but it’ll also be a lot of fun. According to On the Flix, the mid-season finale will be titled “A Way Out”.
