What are the best Casey and Gabby scenes on Chicago Fire?

Dawsey was the first relationship in One Chicago history and will always be one of its most memorable.

Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) went through so many different challenges, from just getting together as a couple in the first place, to professional difficulties and personal tribulations. But they shared just as many happy moments, whether it was in the line of duty or finally tying the knot during Chicago Fire‘s milestone 100th episode.

Each season brought something else for Dawson and Casey, as Chicago Fire always kept them at the forefront of its storytelling. Over more than 100 episodes, fans had the chance to watch them grow from two good friends into a couple who couldn’t live without each other. We saw them get together, be pulled apart, get married, and try to start a family more than once—if a TV couple could do it, they’ve done it.

Dawsey reached the end of the road in season 7 as Dawson permanently moved to Puerto Rico and Casey would later find new love in his relationship with Brett (Kara Killmer) before his own departure from the show.

While Casey and Gabby’s relationship came to a close seasons ago, it still remains one of the show’s most iconic ships and all that fans invested in them during their sweeping romance. They gave us some amazing moments over the years, but these five definitely stand out above the rest.

5. Casey rescues Dawson from beneath the ashes

Back when Dawsey was just a fledgling couple and the two of them barely had time to develop their relationship, the worst happened. In Chicago Fire season 2, the episode “A Dark Day” had a car bomb go off during a police and fire department charity run. It killed and injured many of those at the start line, and Dawson was among them.

With the fire crews facing one of their toughest callouts yet, the team raced against the clock to find and save Dawson while they still had any hope of reaching her. Casey teamed up with Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) to look for her, not knowing that she was trapped under fallen debris. In fact, they didn’t find her at first, and feared she may have died in the blast!

But they continued to search, refusing to give up hope while Chicago Fire showed us Dawson becoming more and more desperate. Putting her firefighter training to use, she started knocking two metal pipes together, hoping that someone would hear her. That finally drew Severide and Casey’s attention, and Casey rushed to his girlfriend’s rescue.

Despite the chaos unfolding around them, Casey was somehow able to keep a level head as he searched for Dawson. Even though there were countless victims, his first thought was to find the woman he loved, and he never stopped thinking that he would locate her. Dawson didn’t give up either, and that perfect moment when Casey finally saw Dawson’s relieved face was the happy ending we’d all been waiting for.
