Chicago PD season 9 episode 9 preview (Promo, synopsis and photos)

After three long weeks, Chicago PD finally returns to NBC’s primetime lineup this Wednesday night with its final episode of 2021!

That’s right, the fall finale of Chicago PD airs Wednesday night at 10/9c and it seems fans are in for an intense episode that promises to bring the Roy murder case with the FBI closing in on Voight (Jason Beghe), Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Hailey (Tracy Spiridakos).

Given this will be the fall finale, we’re anticipating things will finally come to a head but the real question will be whether Halstead will turn on Voight and, if not, who might go down for Roy’s murder.

If you’re hoping to get a sneak peek at what’s to come from the Chicago PD fall finale, we regret to inform you NBC has decided not to release a promo for the episode. Instead, the only promotional trailer which has been released thus far by NBC has been a general One Chicago fall finale promo featuring promo shots and scenes from already aired episodes.

Judging by the synopsis for the season 9 fall finale, it appears the action will pick up right where we left off with Halstead faced with making an impossible decision.

Considering the FBI is quickly closing in on cracking the case, having discovered Roy’s body in the closing moments of the last episode, Halstead is going to have to think on his feet and act fast. Given the synopsis teases he’ll strategize with Voight on finding a way out, it seems safe to assume he won’t be turning in Voight.

Here’s how NBC officially describes season 9, episode 9:

"With the FBI closing in on the Roy Walton investigation, Voight and Halstead strategize on a way out. After a city bus driver is shot by a passenger, the team investigates a possible abduction."

Although NBC has released images for the Chicago Fire and Chicago Med fall finales, the network has not yet released any images from the Chicago PD season 9 fall finale which is unusual. It’s possible we could see images drop closer to the episode’s airdate, but at the moment it looks like NBC will not be releasing images for the episode before its broadcast on Dec. 8.
