If you’ve been on the internet lately, chances are you might have seen a recent report from The Express which seemed to suggest Chicago Fire season 10’s return has been delayed.

According to the report, due to a schedule shake-up season 10 was said to be “set for a lengthy hiatus” before noting that the series would return in early January.

In the days since the report was published, there has been confusion among fans due in large part to the phrasing of the report which suggests NBC has changed its original scheduling plan leading to a delayed return for Chicago Fire.

Despite reports to the contrary, we can confirm that Fire‘s return has not been delayed and the wait for new episodes won’t be near as long as fans might anticipate.

When do Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD return?

As previously reported, NBC’s entire One Chicago lineup will return for their winter premieres on Wednesday, Jan. 5 with new episodes of Chicago Med, Fire and PD all planned to air that evening during their usual broadcast times.

The scheduling move indeed involves a multi-week hiatus for the three shows, but this was always the plan laid out by NBC and is not uncommon at this time of year. The good news is that when the shows return in January, fans should be in store for a stretch of new episodes before the next break in the season which we’re anticipating to come in early February timed to the Winter Olympics.
