Yuri Sardarov will always be a beloved presence in the One Chicago universe. The actor stole nearly every scene he appeared in as Otis, right up to his heartbreaking death in Chicago Fire season 8.

The fan favorite character may not be around anymore, but Sardarov has continued to shine in different projects, the most notable of which is the upcoming film Daddy. The actor recently took to social media to tease his involvement in the film, which looks to be a pitch black comedy.

Here’s what you need to know about Sardarov and his upcoming role.

Yuri Sardarov to reteam with Chicago Fire star Miranda Rae Mayo

Daddy is written and directed by Neal Kelley and Jono Sherman. The film is currently in production, as evidenced by Sardarov’s Instagram photos, where he’s seen wearing a Josh Kercher-designed suit.

Daddy is set in a dystopian society where the “state has the power to determine who can and cannot father children”. According to Deadline, the film will follow four men who attend a retreat in the California mountains and are left to their own devices in order to prove to themselves that they have what it takes to become a father.

The wacky premise and the promise of seeing Sardarov in a role that shows off his comedic talent would be enough to entice most One Chicago fans, but there’s even more incentive. In addition to Sardarov, Daddy will star Chicago Fire star Miranda Rae Mayo.

Sardarov doesn’t have an extensive film career, but his selectiveness has resulted in an extremely impressive resume. Some of his notable screen credits include The Double, The Ides of March (both 2011) and Argo, which took home the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2013.

The actor has been relatively quiet since being killed off of Chicago Fire in 2018. He played a small part in the 2020 drama Adam, which makes Daddy his first significant role in some time. We’re excited to see how he handles the tonally tricky balance the film is going for, and we’ll keep our fingers crossed in the hopes that he will get to play a scene opposite his former co-star Mayo.
