Sophia Bush’s new series Good Sam falls flat against Chicago PD
By Cody Schultz
Sophia Bush made her return to primetime on Jan. 5, 2022, with the series premiere of her new series Good Sam. Unfortunately, the series proved to be no match for the series Bush once called home and was easily defeated by Chicago PD in the battle of the network timeslots.
In its debut episode, Good Sam drew a mere 2.7 million total viewers which was easily bested by the night’s new Chicago PD, which pulled in an impressive 6 million total viewers and topped the 10 p.m. timeslot.
Not only did Good Sam fall flat against Chicago PD, but it’s debut audience of 2.7 million total viewers made it CBS’s lowest debut of the 2021-22 season thus far and the network’s least-watched original series of the season thus far.
Will Good Sam starring Sophia Bush be canceled?
At this time, it’s far too early to know whether CBS will pull the plug on Good Sam but we have to confess the early numbers for the series aren’t the greatest. Despite a lot of positive buzz leading up to its debut and an incredible cast led by Sophia Bush, the series premiere episode viewership figure was far from stellar.

If the series is unable to improve upon its viewership totals in the weeks ahead and via its delayed viewership totals, it’s quite possible CBS could look to pull the plug on the series after its initial order which is a move it’s done in the past when a series has failed to achieve strong viewership figures.
