2022 has been off to quite an interesting start for Chicago Fire and not in the most positive of ways.

Just days into the new year, reports broke that NBC had been forced to press pause on production due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Then came news that the series would be heading on an unrelated extended break with NBC opting to send the series — as well as fellow One Chicago dramas, Chicago PD and Chicago Med —on a break following its Jan. 19 episode — just three weeks after it returned from its winter break.

After the wave of less than stellar updates, fans finally have something new to celebrate: production on season 10 is going to resume much sooner than we anticipated!

Chicago Fire to resume filming (Report)

From the moment word broke that NBC had been forced to pause production on the season, the immediate question among fans was how long the delay might be and whether it could cause any delay in the schedule. Fortunately, it looks like production is about to get back up and running!

As first reported by Screen Magazine, production on Chicago Fire season 10 is expected to resume as early as the end of this week which should help prevent any sort of major delay in the season. According to Screen Magazine, Chicago Fire is expected to resume filming by the end of this week while both Med and PD have, fortunately, not experienced any stoppages in shooting this month and remain on schedule.

When reports first broke, the general hope seemed to be that the pause in production would be a limited one and the new report out of Screen Magazine seems to suggest this will indeed be the case which is absolutely cause for celebration!

Of course, it’s important to keep in mind that things could always change as the studios continue to look to protect the cast and crew behind the scenes but all signs seem to be pointing towards production on Chicago Fire picking up back sometime this week.
