Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) is having a tough time. The character has struggled to keep her romance with Casey (Jesse Spencer) going strong with thousands of miles in between them. She alluded to as much when she talked with Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) in the winter premiere of Chicago Fire.

One theory that has popped up, seemingly out of nowhere, is whether Brett is pregnant with Casey’s child. Fans began to theorize as to how likely the character’s pregnancy could be, or whether a child could be a plot line that the writers pursue at some point in the future to keep the couple going strong.

Here’s what we know about the theory and what the showrunners have to say about the character’s future.

Is Brett going to have kids on Chicago Fire?

No, Brett is not pregnant. The character merely told Kidd that she was going to be traveling to visit Casey and was excited to see him after several months apart. There’s nothing to suggest that she is keeping her pregnancy a secret, nor are there any clues to foreshadow a potential future pregnancy.

This isn’t the first time the character has been linked to pregnancy rumors. In the 2018 episodes “Looking for a Lifeline” and “The Chance to Forgive”, Brett experienced some of the symptoms of being pregnant but was terrified of taking a test and finding out for sure.

The only person who could have been the father at the time was Chicago PD character Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), and Brett actually began to come to terms with the idea of being a mother and starting a family with Dawson. A pregnancy test quickly dispelled the possibility, though, forcing the character to reconsider what she held important in her life.

Given the existence of this storyline, it would be unlikely that Chicago Fire writers would recycle the drama and given Brett a nearly identical dilemma in the current season. That’s not to say that Brett will never have kids on the show, or even settle down with Casey, but we anticipate that it will be executed in a different way.
