Chicago PD spoilers: What to expect in Chicago PD season 9 episode 12 (Preview)

It looks like it’s Voight’s (Jason Beghe) time to shine this week on Chicago PD, at least that’s the vibe we’re getting from the promotional materials for this week’s new episode.

After seeing Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) take center stage last week, the attention seems to be shifting back to Voight in episode 12 and the relationship he’s attempting to cultivate with his newest informant.

Just what awaits us this Wednesday night? Below we share the promo, synopsis, and photos for episode 12, “To Protect.”

As you might expect, the promo for this week’s Chicago PD puts the focus on Voight and his informant Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado), who will be teaming up this week as the Intelligence Unit works to bring down the head of a brutal gang.

Upon approaching Anna about the investigation, she has a “put me in coach” moment in which she convinces Voight to let her go undercover in hopes of cracking the case. While Voight agrees to use her in the case, the promo seems to suggest his choice could have life-threatening consequences for Anna when things appear to go wrong.

Much like the promo for this week’s episode, the synopsis for episode 12 leans heavily into the Voight and Anna dynamic which will unfold in the episode by providing us with a few further insights into the case of the week.

Here’s how NBC officially describes season 9, episode 12:

"The team works together to identify the head of the brutal Los Temidos gang. Voight dives deeper into his informant Anna Avalos’ past when her undercover role is threatened."
