Marlyne Barrett’s recent tweet has Chicago Med fans hopeful SPOILER could return soon

There have been a lot of casting changes this season on Chicago Med with the series introducing a handful of new characters this year as several other beloved characters stepped away from the series.

While all eyes have been on the show’s bigger departures which have included the likes of Torrey DeVitto and Yaya DaCosta as well as the absence of Brian Tee, there have also been a lot of recurring characters who have been missing from many episodes this season including Ben Campbell (Charles Malik Whitfield).

After appearing in a recurring role across both seasons 5 and 6, Ben has been MIA for all of season 7 having last appeared in the sixteenth episode of season 6 back in May 2021. However, there seems to be some hope that Ben could return soon after his frequent scene partner Marlyne Barrett tweeted out a sweet photo of Maggie and Ben.

Is Ben coming back to Chicago Med?

Taking to Twitter on Jan. 25, Maggie Lockwood actress Marlyne Barrett tweeted out a sweet throwback photo with Charles Malik Whitfield from the set of Chicago Med. 

“When you can just put your head on your man,” Barrett captioned the image of Maggie and Ben in which the pair shared a sweet embrace. Although Barrett made it clear the image was a throwback, the timing of the photo has left many fans to question whether Ben might finally be coming back for what would be his first appearance of the season. So is Ben coming back to Chicago Med? At this time, NBC has not confirmed whether Charles Malik Whitfield will be returning this season to reprise his role as Ben but that doesn’t mean he won’t be returning at all this season.

Given this season has put a large focus on Maggie’s relationship with her daughter and the most recent episode saw Maggie (Asjha Cooper) under fire for the role she had in Vanessa matching with Med, one would think Ben would make a return soon to be there to support Maggie through what is sure to be a trying time.

And we have to confess the timing of Barnett’s tweet definitely has fans curious as to whether Ben could be returning, with many calling upon the writers to bring him back into the mix.
