Who does Alexa Adderley play on Chicago PD?

Alexa Adderley’s stint on Chicago PD may have been short, but nobody could saw it wasn’t memorable. The actress appeared in the episode “Anthem”, and while she hasn’t appeared since, she left an indelible impression on viewers with her exit.

For those who don’t recall season 5, or have not revisited the earlier Chicago PD years, here’s a rundown of Adderley’s role and whether there are plans for her to return in the future.

Did Brianna Woods die on Chicago PD?

Adderley played Brianna Woods, the daughter of independent auditor and series nemesis Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson). The auditor was a former partner of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), and he repeatedly clashed with the IU over the course of his multi-season run.

In the episode “Anthem”, a basketball star is shot and killed by a police officer, and the IU has to navigate the politically tumultuous fallout of the case in Chicago. Brianna is front and center in the case due to the association she had with the victim, and this association ultimately gets her shot. She’s critically wounded but thankfully survives her injuries.

There’s been little mention of Brianna since her departure from the show, but her shooting did much to develop the character of Denny Woods and his place within the greater framework of Chicago PD. It’s possible that Brianna, and therefore Adderley, could return, given that she’s still alive, but it’s not very likely.

The fact that her stint was only one episode seems to ensure that she’s not someone who has enough backstory or closeness with the IU team to warrant a cameo.

Adderley has stayed busy since her role on Chicago PD. In addition to stints on the shows Bull and The Hunt with John Walsh, she’s played memorable roles on episodes for the ABC thriller Quantico and the comedy series Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack.
