Who does Cruz marry on Chicago Fire?

Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) has been pretty quiet during the latest stretch of Chicago Fire. The character had a brush with death in the season 10 premiere, and a subsequent crisis of confidence, but he’s receded to the background to allow room for subplots focusing on Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and newcomer Pelham (Brett Dalton).

Given that Cruz and his wife just gave birth to a baby boy, it makes sense that he would be more focused on his home life than work drama. That being said, some fans may need a refresher on Cruz’s wife and how the two met.

Who is Cruz’s wife on Chicago Fire?

Chloe debuted in the season 7 episode “Going to War”. She was one of the inhabitants of a building fire that the 51 was called to remedy, and she and Cruz immediately hit things off. The couple had complementize personalities, though they did run into some issues. Chloe was sidelined when she was involved in a serious car crash, and took several months to recover.

Then there was the death of Otis (Yuri Sardarov). The untimely passing affected Cruz greatly, but it also changed the way that Chloe looked at the dangers of firefighting. She witnessed the trauma that Otis’ girlfriend Lily (Ariane Rinehart) went through, and questioned whether she had what it took to put herself in a similar situation if something happened to Cruz. She eventually overcame her concern.

The couple were married in the season 8 episode “Light Things Up”.  Otis’ death comes full circle in lovely fashion in the 200th episode, where they give birth to a child they name Brian “Otis” Cruz. Chloe has had less screen time since her and Cruz tied the knot, but she did contribute a few crucial scenes, especially when the latter was having a hard time rebounding from a near fatal call.

One Chicago fans will always think of Gutoskie as Mrs. Cruz, but the actress has been a regular on several popular shows over the last decade. She had prime roles on hits like The Vampire Diaries and Lethal Weapon, and she recently starred in season 3 of Narcos: Mexico.
