Is Marlyne Barrett pregnant on Chicago Med?

Marlyne Barrett is a Chicago Med staple. As Maggie Lockwood, the actress has helped to anchor the rest of the cast and lent a stern presence to the various dramas that come through the ED.

That being said, there’s some confusion regarding Barrett and whether or not she’s pregnant. Similar to a theory involving Chicago Fire star Kara Killmer, fans believe that Barrett is pregnant and going to be missing upcoming episodes as a result. Is it true?

Here’s what we know about Barrett and her future with the show.

Is Maggie leaving Chicago Med?

Barrett has not made any statements regarding a pregnancy, which leads us to believe that she is not. In the past, performers have confirmed that they have a child on the way, and the shows will go out of their way to accommodate them; whether it means shooting them from specific angles or having them sitting for the bulk of their scenes.

None of these tricks were evident in the last Chicago Med episode, “Reality Leaves a Lot to the Imagination“. Barrett doesn’t have a huge presence in the storyline for the episode, but there are plenty of scenes that show her in a normal camera set up akin to the rest of the actors.

Barrett has been married to Gavin Barrett since 2009. The latter even made a cameo appearance as a Chaplain in the Chicago Med episode “Heart Matters”. The couple don’t have any children, but sites like Wiki claim that Barrett regularly posts photos of her friends and relatives’ children on her social media.

Since Barrett is showing no signs of pregnancy, there’s no reason to believe that her character will be leaving Chicago Med anytime soon. Med has taken a few hits in the last season, with the exits of Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) leaving big gaps, so its unlikely the show will part ways with another core member.
