Chicago PD spoilers: What to expect in Chicago PD season 9 episode 14 (Preview)

After putting a focus on Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) last week in the first new episode of Chicago PD season 9 following the show’s latest hiatus, this week’s episode is shifting the focus back onto Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).

As fans will recall, a few episodes back, Burgess’s life was turned upside down when a blood relative from Makayla’s past suddenly emerged and expressed a desire to become her guardian.

In the episodes since, we’ve gotten a few throwaway updates on the case but the storyline is finally going to be pushed back to the forefront in this week’s new episode. Judging by the looks of the promotional materials for the episode, it seems the custody battle is about to begin and fans are in for an emotional hour.

Setting the tone for this week’s episode, the promo for Chicago PD season 9, episode 14 previews an intense episode ahead as Burgess prepares to go to court to fight to remain in Makayla’s life.

Given the blood connection shared with the mysterious relative from Makayla’s past, it looks like Burgess will have an uphill battle ahead — though by the looks of things, she won’t be alone as Adam is right by her side throughout it all.

Chicago PD 9×14 synopsis

As expected, the synopsis for Chicago PD episode 14, “Blood Relation,” focuses heavily on Burgess and Ruzek’s fight to retain custody; however, it also offers up a hint of this week’s case which the Intelligence Unit will be working.
