Who does Eloise Mumford play on Chicago Fire?
Eloise Mumford may have had a brief stint on Chicago Fire, but the actress definitely left a mark on fans. She appeared in eight episodes of the show, proving herself to be a memorable and unpredictable presence through her interactions with the 51 squad.
That said, its been a while since she last appeared, and fans may be curious as to what character she played or whether there are plans for her to return.
Here’s what you need to know about Mumford and her connection to Chicago Fire.
What happened to Hope on Chicago Fire?
Mumford plays Hope Jacquinot, a childhood friend of Brett (Kara Killmer). She came to Chicago to visit Brett in the season 6 episode “It Wasn’t Enough”, and quickly decided to stay. She spent a lot of time around the 51, and even had a brief romance with Severide (Taylor Kinney) before she was hired to be the fire station’s receptionist.
Despite her bubbly presence, Hope was often at the center of 51 drama. Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) was distrustful of of her from the time she started dating Severide, and the dislike was mutual. At one point, in the episode “Devil’s Bargain”, Hope decides to shred Kidd’s misplaced paycheck out of spite.
Things continue to escalate between Hope and Kidd, leading the former to actually forge a document that transfers Kidd to another precinct. Casey (Jesse Spencer) is confused by the seeming randomness of Kidd’s transfer, however, and when he looks into the paperwork he discovers that Hope signed the document as Chief Mullins. Hope is fired immediately.

The scandal involving the transfer caused a major rift between Hope and Brett. Hope decided to move back to her home town, and actually makes a brief appearance in the season 8 opener. She reveals that she had just gotten out of an abusive relationship, and admits to Brett that she has regret over what she did to Kidd. The former best friends then make amends.
Hope has not appeared on the show since season 8, but the character remains alive and well. Given her ties to Brett’s hometown, and the seeming hint at a larger story for Brett coming up, we may get a chance to see her return.
