Travis Brenner (Scott Elrod) is a unique character on Chicago Fire. Where most of the men and women we meet are selfless hero types, Brenner is an Instagram celebrity who prefers to get likes rather than save lives.

This distinction makes his dynamic with Severide (Taylor Kinney) all the more fascinating. They were friends in spite of their major differences, and the latter seemed convinced that Brenner was a decent guy. Well, at least he thought he was.

It’s been a bit since fans have gotten to see Brenner, and there are some who may be curious as to where he went. Let’s do some digging and find out.

Who did Scott Elrod play on Chicago Fire?

Brenner was introduced in the season 5 episode “The Hose and the Animal”, where he quickly impressed Severide with his charisma and flashy lifestyle. That said, things took a turn for the worse in the season 5 episode “Scorched Earth”.

Severide attended a party at Brenner’s house, where he encounters a woman who’s sprawled out on the floor and overdosing on what appears to be cocaine. Severide springs into action and revives the woman, and Brenner promises to drive her to the hospital while Severide clears out the party.

Unfortunately, Brenner double-backed on his word. He wound up leaving the woman on a bench, where she was left unattended for hours. Severide confronts the Instagram celebrity about the decision, and the latter claims that he was saving the woman from the embarrassment of having to go to the hospital for overdosing. In truth, he was worried about how the hospital trip would look to his legions of fans, and decided to leave her fate to chance.

Brenner tries to smooth over the gaffe by asking Severide to go on a trip with him, but the damage has been done. Severide recognizes what kind of man he had been dealing with all along, and he walks out on Brenner once and for all. To date, it’s the last time we see the celeb.

Scott Elrod, the actor who plays Brenner, is a familiar face on film and television. He’s appeared in shows like CSI: Miami and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as films like Lone Survivor.
