When is the Chicago PD season 9 finale?

Chicago PD has continued to put the pedal to the metal when it comes to dramatic stakes. There’s been near-death experiences, fractured relationships, and identity crises throughout season 9, and it looks as though we’re just getting started.

As the show inches closer and closer to its season finale, questions about its schedule arises. Fans have had to contend with several delays and breaks, so will there be more before the show wraps up?

Here’s what you need to know about Chicago PD and the rest of season 9.

Chicago PD season 9 finale date in 2022

TV Line reports that all three One Chicago shows will air their finales on Wednesday, May 25. This is part of a huge finale week, as the other surrounding days will feature finales for other Dick Wolf productions like FBI and its various spinoffs.

Chicago PD will air in its usual time slot on May 25, which means it will be the last One Chicago show to wrap up its season. While it’s exciting to know a season finale isn’t far off, the scheduling does suggest that fans are headed for a couple more breaks.

It was previously confirmed that Chicago PD would air 22 episodes during season 9, and given that episode 18 is slated to air on April 13, the network will have to go a couple weeks without any new material. The lack of new material will likely be filled by reruns of earlier season 9 episodes.

This is all pretty commonplace for NBC. The network has turned to reruns for weeks at a time during the 2021 and 2022 season, or the airing of global events like the Winter Olympics. There haven’t been tons of details released about the season 9 finale, but there has been a synopsis for the episode airing on April 20. It reads as follows:

"“After the murder of a wealthy Chicago man, Atwater and the team dig in to uncover the truth, suspecting there is more to the story than meets the eye.”"
