Jesse Spencer eyeing return to Chicago Fire (and it could come in season 10)
By Cody Schultz
It seems Kara Killmer’s return as Sylvie Brett isn’t the only return the Chicago Fire powers that be are working to pull off before the tenth season of NBC’s flagship One Chicago series comes to a close!
During One Chicago Day, showrunner Derek Haas revealed to Deadline that former leading man Jesse Spencer is currently in talks to reprise his role as Captain Matt Casey in the season 10 finale. While talks are said to be underway, the odds of Spencer returning are looking strong.
Bringing Spencer back for the show’s tenth season would be a great way to cap off the show’s milestone season. But what exactly are the odds of a return happening?
Is Jesse Spencer coming back to Chicago Fire?
Although NBC has not officially announced Jesse Spencer’s return as Matt Casey in Chicago Fire season 10, it’s looking highly likely that we could see Spencer return to the Windy City before season 10 comes to a close!
Spencer left on great terms and the show has made his presence felt ever since he left the series with quick references about how he’s been doing since leaving town.

Should Casey return, it’s expected he’ll be doing so for Severide and Kidd’s wedding — as Haas recently revealed he’d be mortified if Spencer didn’t return as Casey when the time came for Severide and Kidd to exchange their I Do’s.
What will be most interesting if Spencer returns in the season 10 finale will be to see whether he’ll choose to stick around by the episode’s end or leave town once again.
