Violet (Hananko Greensmith) has had a difficult run on Chicago Fire. The veteran medic has seen the departure of her co-worker and close friend Brett (Kara Killmer), at least briefly, and her new partner, Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver) is not exactly the natural fit she was hoping for.

What initially seemed like differing methods took a turn for the worse in the episode “Finish What You Started”. Jacobs proved herself to be a nefarious presence in the firehouse, and Violet may be looking at some long term issues in terms of her job.

Here’s what you need to know about Violet’s future with the firehouse.

Violet’s skills get questioned in the new Chicago Fire

In the aforementioned episode, Violet and Jacobs are called upon to aid the victims of a jet engine fire. Things go smoothly, but afterwards, Jacobs tells Gallo (Alberto Rosende) that Violet panicked during the fire and was acting unprofessionally with victims.

Gallo tries to comfort Violet, unaware that she is fine. The confusion, however, does give Violet a chance to piece together Jacobs’ plan. She thinks that Jacobs is trying to spread rumors that she’s acting flighty in the field so that she’ll get fired and Jacobs will get her job.

This plan makes sense, given the recent revelation that Brett will be coming back soon, and Jacobs will be transferred to another firehouse. It’s clear the newbie wants to stay where she is, and sees Violet as the perfect target. Violet tries to get Jacobs fired, but Boden (Eamonn Walker) says that Chief Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) was the one who made the hire.

Hawkins wants to give Jacobs the boot, but the recent attention he and Violet have gotten makes him hesitant to do so. All eyes are on them, and Jacobs is using their low profile to her advantage. Violet will have to decide between keeping her relationship quiet and airing out her work issues with Jacobs. Either way, we’re confident that Violet won’t be fired.

When Chicago Fire cast Caitlin Carver as Jacobs, they did not specify how long the character would stick around. Now that Jacobs is making enemies in the field, it’s safe to assume that she will be excised by the end of the season. Violet certainly hopes so.
