We all want to see Stellaride get married. The pairing of Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has been at the forefront of Chicago Fire for the past few seasons, and all signs point to the couple becoming husband and wife by the finale.

That said, the path towards marriage may not be as simple as it looks. During a recent interview with TV Insider, Fire showrunner Andrea Newman discussed the characters’ individual mindsets, and how their past will be affecting their future.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming Stellaride wedding.

When are Severide and Kidd getting married?

Don’t worry, it’s going to happen. Newman and the cast have all but confirmed that the characters will tie the knot in style, but the road to get there is looking more treacherous the more we learn about it. Haas told the outlet that the negative experiences that Severide and Kidd have had will make them hesitant to make themselves completely vulnerable to commitment.

"“[They] love each other so much… both have this dark history with marriage and relationships”, the showrunner revealed. “Kidd had the previous marriage that was abusive and horrible, and Severide has this role model of his dad and his mom’s marriage, which was terrible and also somewhat abusive.”"

The relationship has already experienced a few bumps in season 10, especially when Kidd was on the road for the Girls on Fire program and essentially cut off contact with Severide. That encounter shook their dynamic, so it’s important to keep the rebuilding of that trust in mind when following where they go next.

"“They both carry a big burden into this, and the question is, when push comes to shove, can they take that leap?”, Newman added. “There’s all sorts of complications we’re throwing their way. But they’re amazing together, and we love them. We love that journey they’re on.”"

It’s a dramatic show, of course, so even when Severide and Kidd do get married, there will be subplots and issues they will have to contend with. That said, there are some fascinating parts about both characters that will be exposed (and rectified) before they decide to walk down the aisle together, and we can’t wait.
