Brett (Kara Killmer) has been missing on Chicago Fire, and in her absence a new medic has appeared. There’s been lots of speculation about her future on the show, especially given her closeness with Casey (Jesse Spencer), who left during the mid-season finale, and whether or not she would come back in a full-time capacity.

Brett’s absence has also jeopardized the career of her best friend and partner Violet (Hanako Greensmith) as her replacement has been spreading rumors in an attempt to take Violet’s job away from her.

So what gives? What’s Brett’s future going to look like on the show? Here’s what we know so far.

When is Brett coming back to Chicago Fire?

Thankfully, it seems Brett is sticking around for the long term. During an interview with Deadline, Fire executive producer Andrea Newman discussed the character and how she will factor into the anticipated season finale.

"“Yes, Sylvie will be back for the finale”, Newman stated. “She’s a full-time member of 51. She was gone while visiting Casey but when she’s back, she’s back. She and Casey will have to figure out their relationship going forward, which is what they’ll be doing in the finale.”"

The great news involving Brett’s return is compounded when you consider that she will be returning with Casey, who will serve as best man at the Stellaride wedding. The couple have been through a lot in season 10, so getting a chance to see them together and happy will be a huge treat for fans.

Brett’s return will also signal good things for Violet, who has clashed with Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver) from the moment she was hired. it’s clear that Jacobs wants to stick around at the 51, and will cross whoever she has to in the process. It will be great to see this antagonistic relationship melt away and return to the supportive, close bond that Brett and Violet share.
