Is Yuri Sardarov on The Rookie (And who does he play)?
Yuri Sardarov is a beloved figure in the One Chicago universe. His performance as Otis made him one of the most popular and comedic characters in Chicago Fire, and made his surprising death all the more difficult to swallow.
There’s still nods to Otis on the show, like when Cruz (Joe Minoso) named his son after the fallen firefighter, but fans will be happy to know that Sardarov has continued to find major success on the small screen.
Here’s what you need to know about the actor’s current gig.
Who plays Trevor Gurin on The Rookie?
The Rookie is currently in its fourth season, and anybody who’s watched the show may be surprised to see a familiar face: Sardarov. Yes, the actor we all know and love as Otis is now playing a Russian bomber named Trevor Gurin on the procedural drama.
Sardarov joined the cast of The Rookie in the last few weeks, and the character of Gurin has been crucial to a storyline involving the CIA and seemingly random bombings around the city. The title of the episode “Enervo” is a direct reference to Gurin, as it is the codename he was given during his time with the black ops.

The unpredictability of the character, and his involvement with devastating criminal acts, makes his long term status on the show unlikely. Fortunately, Sardarov has been keeping plenty busy, and has a series of interesting projects lined up outside of The Rookie.
He recently appeared in the romantic comedy Amy and Peter Are Getting Divorced, and he’s set to star opposite Chicago Fire star Miranda Rae Mayo in the upcoming comedy Daddy. The latter is set in the future, and follows a group of men as they “attend a government sanctioned retreat in the remote mountains of California.”
