Samantha Massell had a brief stint on Chicago Fire season 9. She appeared in two episodes, and while she didn’t factor heavily into the plot of either, fans combing through reruns of the show may be curious as to what happened to the character and whether she will return.

Well, here’s what you need to know about Massell and her time on the firefighting show.

Who played Olivia on Chicago Fire?

Massell played Olivia, a spin instructor who helps out some of the members of the 51. It was a charming appearance, and the actress celebrated her time on the show by joking about a spinoff.

"“Olivia the spin instructor… THE SPIN OFF (jk jk jk, but I am back on @NBCChicagoFire. I have had so much fun filming with this squad”, Massell tweeted out. “I love them so. I wanna be a firefighter when I grow up. Ok the end. Y’all better watch!!”"

While its unlikely the character will return (barring any cases involving a spin class, Massell has continued to stay busy on the small screen. She made her TV debut on The Good Fight, and rose to prominence with a juicy role on the acclaimed thriller series Mr. Mercedes. She’s also had guest spots on NCIS: New Orleans and Elementary.

Of course, it’s easy to forgive characters like Olivia not returning when you have the impending return of mainstays like Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Brett (Kara Killmer). As Chicago Fire clears the decade mark, it can be easy to want to look back at all of the characters that have made the show great, but showrunners Derek Haas and Andrea Newman have stated that its important to keep new people coming in to keep things fresh.

We’re curious to see who will enter the world of the 51 and provide entertainment for the next decade.
