There’s been no shortage of excitement in Chicago Fire season 10, but it sounds like we’re only scratching the surface. Based on the events that have already been teased, and the events of the latest episode, the finale is going to be next level dramatic.

The impending wedding between Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is what we all want to see, but showrunner Derek Haas has suggested that we’re going to be getting way more than we bargained for when the episode finally drops.

Here’s what you need to know.

Chicago Fire season 10 finale spoilers

During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Haas promised fans that there will be a shocking reveal and/or development before every commercial break. “This finale is nonstop”, he promised. “Every act where the commercials come in – before every act, you’re either crying, screaming, or throwing a brick through your TV set. Or praising or cursing our names.”

The disclaimer of not knowing whether fans will be “praising” or “cursing” is a telling one, as Haas suggests there will be some twists that won’t be as widely accepted. It’ll be interesting to see how these polarizing decisions play out, and whether they will factor into the big storyline i.e. the Kidd and Severide wedding.

The showrunner also confirmed that there will be cliffhangers galore during the finale, so fans will have plenty of content speculate on and question during the off-season. “We don’t always have to look ahead”, he explained. “This one, we did. There’s some cliffhanger-y stuff that will need to be resolved.

Some storylines, like the intrusive presence of Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), will likely be resolved before the end of the season, meaning the writers will likely shift the focus to more established characters.

Given the uncertain state of many of the relationships on the show, whether it be Stellaride, Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Chief Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), or Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer), it’s safe to assume that some of the episode’s cliffhangers will have to do with them.
