Is Voight leaving Chicago PD?

Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is the anchor of Chicago PD. He’s the immovable object that the other characters support, and his die-hard commitment to justice is what makes fans love him, even if he sometimes strays from the rules.

One of the biggest instances of Voight straying from the rules was when he agreed to cover up the murder of Roy in the season 8 finale. The veteran policeman had no problem smoothing over the specifics of what happened to the perpetrator even with the FBI breathing down his neck this season.

After wading through the fallout of the murder and cover-up of Roy, the attention shifted to another ongoing case as Voight brought on a new informant to help take down a dangerous drug lord. Things started strong but spiraled in the final episodes of the season putting Voight in an unwinnable spot.

Is Jason Beghe leaving Chicago PD?

In the Chicago PD season 9 finale, the Javier Escano investigation came to a head in the most dramatic of fashion. Escano figured out the truth about Anna, but Voight was able to step in before he could get to her.

He brought her into the station, but she quickly snuck out and ended up killing Escano so that he couldn’t hurt her or anyone else ever again. Following the murder of Escano, Anna is forced to go on the run and things only get worse for her.

When Voight tracks her down, she’s distraught over her actions and what they meant for her future, spirals and pulls a gun on Voight. Voight tries to talk her down, but she panics when the police arrive and shoots Voight in the shoulder — Upton returned fire, shooting Anna, who later died at Med.

As for Voight? Luckily, Anna didn’t seem to hit any major arteries and he’s tended to on the way to Med. By the time the season ends, he’s distraught over Anna’s death, clearly feeling guilt for her role in how things went down, but very much alive.

While the scene was intense, Voight’s injury does not appear too serious and we imagine he should be back in action by the time the show returns this fall. In fact, we fully expect Voight to return as there have been no hints about Jason Beghe leaving the show.
