Chicago PD: When is the season 10 release date?

Chicago PD didn’t hold back any punches during its season 9 finale. The show delivered a series of devastating reveals, culminating with the shooting/death of Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado). The character’s death will have a major effect on Voight (Jason Beghe), who had come to see Anna as a surrogate daughter, and fans are understandably eager to see his change.

Unfortunately, given the rollout for TV, they will have to wait a while. Chicago PD just wrapped up its finale, which means the desire for details regarding the next season is more intense than ever.

When will Chicago PD return in 2022?

As with Fire and Med, Chicago PD generally airs around the same window of time each year. Based on years prior, the tenth season of Chicago PD will air between late September and early October. This is taking into account production turnaround and locations shoots.

The specific day will be made clear the closer we get to the show’s actual return. Fortunately, the fans won’t have to wait with baited breath as NBC debates whether or not to renew it. Deadline confirmed that PD has already been renewed for a tenth season, which means any delays or issues regarding a potential production limbo will not be a factor.

There’s always the concern that the upcoming season of a show could be its last, and Chicago PD is not exempt. That said, the show has continued to pull in strong ratings for NBC, alongside the other two One Chicago titles.

PD stood out from the Fire and Med finales in that it didn’t leave things on a cliffhanger… it ended on a clipped, clear resolution. Anna’s death felt like a turning point for the show and for Voight in particular, so the question heading into season 10 is less of a narrative concern and more of a character concern. Will the veteran officer change his ways?
