Chicago PD has parted ways with several characters over the years, but the most notable exit in the show’s history may just be Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush). The character was a centerpiece during the show’s initial run, and her decision to leave the IU left fans reeling.

As the One Chicago franchise has shown, however, it’s possible for characters to make unexpected comebacks. We’ve seen any number of characters return, either in a cameo or flashback capacity (if they died, of course).

Here’s what you need to know about the current state of Lindsay’s character.

What happened to Lindsay on Chicago PD?

While most of the Chicago PD exits have led to enduring friendships between the actor and the rest of the production team, Bush is a notable exception. She decided to leave the show in 2017, citing “a consistent onslaught barrage of abusive behavior.”

During an appearance on the podcast Armchair Expert, Bush said that she stuck around as long as she did because she didn’t want to jeopardize the jobs of various cast and crew members. She also pointed to co-star Jason Beghe as a source of discomfort, and an investigation into the actor’s set behavior as a result.

While Bush’s unpleasant experience could all but guarantee that she won’t be coming back to PD anytime soon, one also has to consider how busy she’s been since she left. She’s had guest spots on hit shows like This Is Us and Love, Victor, and she was the star of the recently cancelled medical drama Dr. Sam.

Bush made it clear that she’s uninterested in the past during a recent interview with People. She said that her biggest priority is finding material that’s fresh and challenging.

"“I would so much rather be celebrating [Good Sam] than be continually asked to relive unpleasantries from the past. I also feel like it’s really important to respect myself, my mental health and my own boundaries.”"

It’d be wonderful to check in on Lindsay, or at least be given an update on how her character is doing, but given the contentious dynamic between Bush and the rest of the cast/crew, we don’t think a reunion is very likely.
