Chicago PD is getting closer and closer to returning. The police procedural may have just wrapped up its story, but NBC has already released details about the forthcoming tenth season.

Per usual, all three One Chicago shows will come back on the same date. We’re getting the One Chicago Wednesday lineup that we have seen consistently for the last few years, with Chicago PD bringing up the rear behind Chicago Med and Fire. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait very long for it to be back.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming Chicago PD schedule.

When will Chicago PD season 10 premiere on NBC?

The return date for Chicago PD is in line with the previous years. The season 10 premiere will air on on Wednesday, Sept. 21, a few days after the huge network day of Monday, Sept 19. Chicago PD seasons 8 and 9 premiered on Nov. 11 and Sept. 22, respectively, meaning the release dates for each new season has gotten earlier.

This may be due to COVID-related changes or simply a shift in production speed. Either way, fans can rejoice in the fact that they will get the fastest turnaround between PD seasons to date. It’ll be followed by another trio of Dick Wolf shows on Sept. 22: Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU and Law and Order: Organized Crime, making it a prime television week for the fall.

There haven’t been any details about the premiere just yet, but that’s to be expected. Production hasn’t gotten underway, and the writing staff are finalizing all story directions for the rest of the season. Based on the production schedule of previous years, PD is likely to begin shooting in July.

While details remain scarce, season 10 is going to delve further into Voight (Jason Beghe) and the emotional turmoil that came with the Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado) shooting. We’re also likely to get more from Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) as they sort through the difficult personal arrangement they’ve set up.
