One Chicago stars who joined the Arrowverse
One Chicago isn’t the only shared universe on TV. While its ties to Law and Order and FBI make it one of the biggest, it’s been historically rivaled in popularity by CW’s Arrowverse. The Arrowverse is a fascinating mixture of episode drama and large-scale superhero action, and given the number of shows there are, there are lots of roles to be cast.
One Chicago is comprised of dozens of talented actors, many of whom have been working in TV for years. There are familiar faces littered throughout all three shows, and some of the familiarity may come from the fact that they’ve also appeared in the Arrowverse.
Here’s a rundown of the One Chicago stars who have managed to play heroes and superheroes.
Josh Segarra
Josh Segarra is a busy man. In addition to play the son of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) on PD, he played Adrian Chase aka Prometheus on Arrow. The character was absolutely chilling to watch, posing a legitimate threat to the titular hero and proving that Segarra could do villainy as well as he did tragedy on PD.
Segarra is going to be the first One Chicago actor to hit both the Arrowverse and the MCU. He’s slated to appear in the upcoming Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, though his role is not yet clear.
Colin Donnell
Colin Donnell will always have a special place in the hearts of Chicago Med fans. His performance as Dr. Connor Rhodes was essential to making the show work during its early years, and his exit was tough on most of the fans.
Fortunately, Donnell was able to showcase his acting chops as Tommy Merlyn aka Dark Arrow in both Arrow and Supergirl. There was lots of intrigue surrounding his identity, especially when you throw Christopher Chance into the mix, but one thing’s for certain: Donnell delivered.
Charlie Barnett
Charlie Barnett had his Chicago Fire stint cut short in surprising fashion, but he remains a popular character among the fans. Subsequently, it was nice to see him reappear in season 8 of Arrow. He plays John Diggle, Jr., the leader of the Deathstroke Gang, and brings a fiery intensity to the various fights he has with the children of the CW’s superhero roster.
While brief, Barnett’s role aligned with a career renaissance of sorts. He had juicy supporting parts in shows like You, Russian Doll, and Tales of the City around the same time. It’s nice to see our old friend Mills get the break he deserves.
