Jesse Spencer has had an indelible TV career. In addition to starring roles on House and Chicago Fire, the actor shined in the Australian soap opera Neighbors. In fact, Neighbors gave Spencer his breakout role back in, showcasing his charisma and natural screen presence.

Spencer has proven himself to be someone who cares about fans and the impact his characters have, as anyone who watched the Chicago Fire season 10 finale can confirm, so it makes sense that he would want to return to the show that started it all for him.

Here’s what we know about Spencer’s return to Neighbours.

Is Jesse Spencer on Neighbours?

Spencer played teenager Billy Kennedy on Neighbours from 1994 to 2000. Billy was the son of two of the show’s main characters and suffered from dyslexia, which is something that Spencer took to heart, and used as a springboard to help promote awareness through a series of Australian adverts. He returned for the show’s 20th anniversary episode in 2005.

Obviously, Spencer’s star power is much higher than it was when he was first cast. He broke through to American audiences on the medical drama House, and then proceeded to steal our hearts as Casey on a decade (and counting… hopefully) of Chicago Fire.

He isn’t the only actor who’ll be returning to Neighbours for the series finale. Margot Robbie, who has since gone on to become one of the biggest film stars on the planet, got her start playing the character Donna Freedman from 2008 to 2011. She will be returning for the finale as well.

Spencer confirmed that his desire to spend more time with his family was the reason he stepped away from Chicago Fire, but he’s continued to stay involved with both Fire and Neighbours in an effort to provide his characters with satisfying arcs.

While he won’t be present for most of Chicago Fire season 11, the fact that he’s still in touch with the showrunners and is willing to make cameos is a testament to how much he cares.
