Shooting takes place near the set of Chicago Med
Chicago Med deals with gunshot wounds and medical emergencies on a weekly basis. It’s where the show gets most of its drama, and where it sometimes parallels the sobering reality of doctors who work in highly tense environments.
Unfortunately, the line between fiction and reality blurred during production of the upcoming Med season. According to Deadline, gunfire was reported near the Chicago set, and several bullet holes were later spotted in the fence between the set and the street.
Did a shooting happen on the Chicago Med set?
The outlet also stated that no one was injured as a result, but that one of the bullets that pierced the fence made its way into a trailer. Four cars were involved in the shooting, according to nearby accounts, and the gunfire through the nearby neighborhood.
Chicago Med wasn’t the only show affected by the shooting. Justified: City Primeval was forced to halt production after the aforementioned cars smashed through the set barriers and left several shell casings on the floor. Nobody was hurt, but the cast and crew were forced to hit the ground and find cover.

Since Justified suffered a closer call that Med, the show will be relocating to a soundstage in order to preserve the safety of the cast and crew. Sony, the production company responsible for the film, has also confirmed that it will be beefing up security on Justified, as well as bringing in a former hostage negotiator and his security detail to ensure that things will run as smoothly as possible.
There have not been any reports from showrunners or NBC representative regarding any changes to the Chicago Med security. Based on the fact that their incident was minor in comparison to the nearby Justified incident, its likely the security detail will remain the same.
