The Intelligence Unit is about to welcome back a familiar face in Chicago PD season 10, just likely not the face you might be expecting.

It’s been some time since One Chicago’s crime drama has welcomed a new full-time officer to its ranks, but that all is about to change when the show’s upcoming tenth season reintroduces a familiar face in a much larger role!

Ahead of the show’s season 10 premiere this September, Deadline reports actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar has joined the Chicago PD cast in a series regular role, reprising his role as patrol officer Dante Torres. It’s an interesting decision, but one that’s not too surprising given the way in which the series introduced his character in season 9.

Who is Franco Chavaro on Chicago PD?

Introduced in the eighteenth episode of season 9, “New Guard,” Dante Torres is a patrol officer fresh out of the academy who is paired up with Halstead as a favor to Platt.

When partnered up, things didn’t exactly go as planned as Halstead struggled to crack Torres who was a man of few words and it didn’t help when he disobeyed orders on several occasions — leaving Halstead to question his intentions and possible connection to local gangs.

As the episode went by, Halstead finally learned the truth about Torres’ past when he opened up about spending time in juvie for assaulting his stepdad, after the police failed to do anything to help her despite multiple calls reporting the abuse she was taking.

Torres became a cop to protect and serve, and the episode ends on a somber one, but one that suggested Torres could be sticking around. While he did not appear in any additional episodes of season 9, Aguilar’s promotion to series regular in season 10 suggests the writers have big plans in place for the character entering the new season!

Exactly how Torres is brought back into the picture remains to be seen, but it’s definitely exciting to see Chicago PD welcoming its first new series regular of season 10 and to see how his arrival will shake up the show’s dynamics!
