The Law and Order family just got bigger. The procedural drama has been riding high since it was revived last season, with solid ratings and the promise of a sprawling crossover event between all three shows in the franchise. The addition of new cast member Molly Burnett confirms that things aren’t going to slow down anytime soon.
According to TV Line, Burnett will play Grace Muncy, a veteran detective with gang experience and a reputation for being tough to a point of intimidation.
Who does Molly Burnett play on Law and Order?
There haven’t been details put out on when she’ll be introduced in the season, but we imagine a gang case would be a safe assumption.
Burnett is the first addition made to the cast ahead of its upcoming season, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been major changes. David Graziano has been hired as showrunner after executive producer Warren Leight decided to step down, Graziano is best know for co-creating the show Coyote.

Like Graziano, Burnett has had plenty of success outside of the Law and Order family. She rose to fame on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, where she played Melanie, and has since gone on to appear in hits like General Hospital and Queen of the South.
She’s also appeared in a different form in the Dick Wolf universe. She had a brief but memorable turn in the Chicago PD episode “Fool’s Gold”, which aired earlier this year. Based on the tendency of Dick Wolf to cast actors in larger roles after they show promise in small doses, we can assume that he was impressed with Burnett’s acting.
