Taylor Kinney is ‘excited’ for Chicago Fire season 11
A lot changed for Severide during Chicago Fire season 10. His relationship with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) was tested in new ways, he was forced to say goodbye to his closest friend and foil, Casey (Jesse Spencer), and he got married.
For a character who often seems like the show’s emotional anchor, Severide is going to be dealing with new challenges heading into season 11. He’s a married man, and he may even become a family man at some point in the future.
Here’s what the man behind the character, Taylor Kinney, has to say.
Is Severide in Chicago Fire season 11?
Kinney, who is currently shooting scenes for the upcoming season 11, has made it clear that there’s going to be lots of fresh developments for the character and the show overall. He did, however, keep any major details to himself.
"“I’m excited for season 11” he told Hello Magazine. “I’m not privy to scripts or information on where they’re going with it. I have no clue [about kids], but I’m excited.”"
The actor also spoke on the joys of getting to play a character over the course of a decade, and how the production team have been largely responsible for making Chicago Fire such a beloved franchise.

"“It’s never lost on me how special it is to be a part of something with the longevity this has”, he added. “It’s a testament to [show creator] Dick Wolf and the team of people he puts together.”"
While the details surrounding Severide have been scarce, showrunner Derek Haas has teased the possibility of seeing him investigate more arson cases. The arson subplots involving Lt. Seager (Andy Allo) have been a great way to showcase different sides of the character and his fire-adjacent talents, so we can definitely expect to get more sleuthing and crime-solving.
