We’re all eager for Chicago PD to return. The last season ended with a bang, and there is a lot of emotional baggage that the characters, especially Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), will have to contend with.

Based on a recent Instagram post by Marina Squierciati, however, there’s going to be a lot more drama than expected. The actress, who plays Kim Burgess, teased a crossover event between Chicago PD and Chicago Med in the upcoming season.

Here’s what she had to say/show us.

Is there going to be a One Chicago crossover in 2022?

Posting photos from the set is nothing new for the PD cast, and Squierciati has given lots of fun previews over the years. What was special about a particular post in late July, however, is that she was posting photos from the set of Chicago Med.

“First day back and I came to the wrong show”, she wrote in the caption. “Whoops.” The photo sees Squierciati posing with Med cast members S. Epatha Merkerson and Nick Gehlfuss, who play Dr. Goodwin and Halstead, respectively. To make matters even more exciting, the actress tagged the photo with the hashtags “crossover” and “we’re back.”

In short, fans can expect to see a crossover between the two shows at some point in the new TV season. This isn’t the first time One Chicago cast/crew members have teased a crossover. There was talk of a crossover story between all three shows last season, but scheduling conflicts and the extra precautions brought on by COVID made it difficult to plan.

Ultimately, the plans for a crossover were pushed back. Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas has been hopeful about the plans to revive the three-show event in the near future, and this post has us feeling pretty confident that they managed to work out whatever scheduling conflicts were going on behind the scenes.

There were minor crossovers between PD and Med last season, but nothing that directly tied their shows together for an extended storyline. Hopefully we will get something that spans all three shows over one evening, similar to the crossover events of seasons prior.
