Production on Chicago Fire is underway. The details involving the show’s plot are still under wraps, but the cast and crew have been posting some informative behind-the-scenes videos.

One post by Hanako Greensmith even confirmed the return of a character that fans have been speculating about since the end of season 10. He’s not a core member of the cast, but he did play a crucial role in the events of last season, and is poised to be part of one of the romantic subplots.

The character we’re talking about, of course, is Evan Hawkins. The fire chief who won Violet’s heart and nearly lost his job when he was forced to succumb to blackmail is coming back for another season.

Is Jimmy Nicholas in Chicago Fire season 11?

Greensmith posted a video of the actor who plays Hawkins, Jimmy Nicholas, on her IG stories. He appears in full costume, and can be seen joking with the actress offscreen. The caption on the IG story reads “It’s the weirdo, bacon hands” and Greensmith can be heard laughing about the way Nicholas holds his hands while he’s getting makeup applied.

The video was reposted by the Twitter account One Chicago Updates, and can be seen here.

The lightheartedness of the video is in direct contrast to where the characters find themselves at the start of season 11. Violet made it clear that her confidence in Hawkins is shaken after the way things went down with Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), and while she doesn’t say it outright, she hints at the possibility that she may still have feelings for Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas has confirmed that we will be getting some love triangle drama between the three characters in the new season, and based on the fact that Hawkins is the only part of the trio who isn’t a main cast member, we’d say his chances for success are low.

It’ll be interesting to see how the character deals with his dwindling relationship, especially given how dangerously close he got to losing his job over it. We can’t wait to see how he and Violet go about their impending split.
