There’s a new member of the Chicago PD team and his name is Torres. He made a brief appearance during an episode in season 9, and the character has already popped up in the production stills for the upcoming season.

The thing is, the character in question is named Dante Torres, and he’s played Benjamin Levy Aguilar. There’s been some confusion, and understandably so, because there’s another Torres who’s made an appearance on PD, and his name is Jose Torres.

Are they related? Is Jose set to return to the show? Here’s what we know.

Who does Dennis Garcia play on Chicago PD?

For starters, Jose Torres is played by actor Dennis Garcia. Due to the similarity in character names, Garcia was listed as the actor who played Dante Torres initially, forcing some outlets to revise their initial posts.

Jose Torres appeared in a single episode of PD, but Garcia actually appeared in another episode, as an unnamed uniform cop. The last of these appearances came in 2021. Garcia didn’t have much to do in either episode, but he did have a few lines and he managed to add another notch to his Dick Wolf Productions belt.

Prior to playing Torres, Garcia appeared on Chicago Med. He played a character named Cameron who featured prominently in a 2018 episode, and before that, he played in a 2017 episode of the short-lived Chicago Justice. In short, Garcia is a veteran when it comes to the One Chicago universe.

As best we can tell, Jose Torres is not related to Dante Torres. Furthermore, there are no more plans to bring the character (or the uniform cop) back into the fold.

Fortunately, Garcia has stayed busy. He’s slated to appear in the upcoming film Barrio Boy, as well as the TV movie I Didn’t Mean to Go Mental. Both are scheduled for release in 2022.
