Chicago Med has been keeping us on the edge of our seats since it wrapped up its seventh season on NBC. The medical drama left things off with the lives of two doctors–Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard) Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss)– hanging in the balance.

Both men were trapped in a burning building after they discovered that a patient had ties to a local criminal organization. Fans have had the pleasure of multiple seasons of reruns to keep busy, but there’s only so much rewatching one can do before the desire for new stuff kicks in.

Thankfully, Chicago Med season 8 is almost here. Like its franchise peers, Med is set to return in September with exhilarating answers to any of the questions fans might have.

When is the new season of Chicago Med?

The new season of Chicago Med will air on Wednesday, Sept. 21. This specific day will be called One Chicago Wednesday, based on the fact that the other two shows in the franchise will come out earlier the same night. As with previous seasons, Med will be holding down the 8 p.m. time slot, which means it’ll be the lead in to Chicago Fire and Chicago PD on NBC.

There haven’t been many details released about the plot of Med season 8, but there are lots of unresolved arcs heading into the premiere.

In addition to the cliffhanger ending involving Will and Dylan, there’s the fate of Dr. Pamela Blake (Sarah Rafferty), whose surgery may signify the end of her career as a doctor.
