Which actors were cut from the Chicago PD pilot?
Chicago PD is a show that lives and dies on its ensemble cast. Most episodes hone in on a single character, but by and large, the chemistry between the different members of the IU is what makes the show so entertaining.
It may shocking to find out, then, that fans almost got a completely different cast heading into the pilot for Chicago PD. There were a handful of actors who were brought on, only to see their scenes get cut from the episode that aired.
Here’s a rundown of the actors who failed to make the cut (literally).
Was Scott Eastwood in Chicago PD?
There were four actors that were signed by Dick Wolf Productions with the intention of making them central cast members on Chicago PD. We know this because all four of them appeared in the episode that served as PD‘s backdoor pilot, which was the Chicago Fire episode “Let Her Go.”
The actors in question were Melissa Sagemiller, Scott Eastwood, Kelly Blatz and Tania Raymonde. All four played police officers who worked under Voight (Jason Beghe) and helped aid in the solving of the episode’s central case. Eastwood, a burgeoning star at the time, would play an officer called Jim Barnes.

So what happened? Well, it was determined that there were too many characters in the main PD cast, and the ensemble was shortened down to the ones we’ve come to know and love. Eastwood, Blatz and Raymonde were cut from the pilot episode entirely, and Sagemiller appears very briefly.
Fortunately, all four actors have gone on to have solid careers outside of the Windy City. Eastwood has appeared in hits like Suicide Squad (2016) and The Fate of the Furious (2017), while Sagemiller is best known for her role on Law & Order: SVU. Blatz has had juicy roles in Fear the Walking Dead and The Good Wife, and Raymonde has starred in the Amazon series Goliath since 2016.
