What happened to Chili on Chicago Fire?
What’s the story with Chili? Jessica Chilton was a memorable presence from the moment she debuted on Chicago Fire, but her stint on the show was shorter than some might have thought.
She brought a conviction and intensity to Firehouse 51 that was welcome, even if she often had a difficult time making connections with the other characters. Chili is one of the people who fans can rediscover through watching the show, and truthfully, she’s even more interesting to watch with the knowledge that she leaves.
What happened? Well, let’s break it down.
Who is the actress who plays Chili on Chicago Fire?
Chili had a certain dysfunction from the moment she debuted in season 3. She attributed it to her strained relationship with her parents, as well as her identical sister Jellybean (who was played by the same actress, Dora Madison Burge). She kept her personal issues at bay initially, but an error on the job caused her to slip into a depression, and the compounded trauma of her sister’s death only added to it.
By the time we got to season 4, Chili has succumbed to alcoholism. She was drinking on the job and sneaking away to fill up while she was still on the clock. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) was the first one to notice, and he’s ultimately responsible for getting her into rehab. The last time we see Chili is the episode “All Hard Parts”, when she’s agreed to undergo treatment.

Chili gets mentioned briefly in the episode “Bad for the Soul”, where its revealed that she hasn’t been answering any of the phone calls she had gotten from former fling Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen). That’s the last we heard about her, so we can only hope that rehab proved successful and she’s leading a happier, healthier life somewhere else.
There have been no plans to bring Chili back to Chicago Fire, and given how long its been since she’s been a force on the show, it’s safe to assume that she won’t.
