Chicago Fire is almost here. The firefighting drama has been holding down the forte in our hearts for over a decade now, and it’s poised to do more of the same with the upcoming season 11. There are some big questions heading into the season, especially Stellaride and the tense situation they were left in.

There have been lots of photos and videos coming from the set of Chicago Fire, with the actors taking special care not to spoil any of the major plot lines. Very little is know about the direction the characters will be going in (for the most part), but we do have a concrete hold on when the show is supposed to return to NBC.

Here’s what you need to know about Fire‘s triumphant return.

When does Chicago Fire come back?

The show will premiere on Wednesday, September 21. It will occupy the same 9 pm time slot that it’s held down for the past several years, and continue to hold down what has become known as the One Chicago lineup.

Chicago Fire continues to be the highest-rated scripted drama for NBC, so little will be done to tinker with the time slot or episode count. That said, the One Chicago titles around it are headed for some potential changes. NBC has announced that it’s considering getting rid of the 10 pm time slot, which means Chicago PD will either have to be moved up in front of Fire or changed to a new week night.

The former options spells out trouble for Chicago Med as well, since it currently occupies the time slot in front of Chicago Fire. There are several franchises and shows that will be facing this issue if NBC decides to move ahead with these plans, including the One Chicago adjacent Law & Order: SVU.

That being said, Chicago Fire is stable as ever. It will maintain its prime time spot on Wednesday, and provide answers to all of its semi-cliffhanger scenarios.
