Chicago PD is making some major changes, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar is at the center of them. The actor made his debut in season 9, in what seemed to be a supporting role, but it has since been confirmed that his character, Dante Torres, will become part of the main cast.

It’s exciting to see new blood join the IU, especially given the character’s youth and inexperience (it’s been a while since those qualities have been present on the team), but it’s become even more crucial recently, when it was announced that Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) will be leaving the show during season 10.

Here’s your first look at Torres in the upcoming season.

Torres initially clashed with Halstead, because the latter was unsure if he was helping out the bad guys they were pursuing or merely using his gang knowledge to give the IU a boost. Torres proved to be a straight shooter in this regard, and by the time the case in question was solved, Halstead was sold on the rookie.

It looks like their relationship has developed significantly heading into season 10. The photos put out by NBC show Torres working closely with Halstead and Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) on a street operation.

While Torres and Halstead fail to appear in any of the photos together, it’s clear that they are working in tandem to secure whichever suspect they have in mind. Torres looks to be taking the lead in the field, and Halstead can be seen giving advice from a nearby surveillance van (he does eventually step out from the van and take his firearm out as well).

Chicago PD social media has been littered with photos of Aguilar and Soffer posing with fans, and those photos show them to be wearing the same clothes they’re wearing in these NBC releases. It goes to show that this sequence is a major part of the season premiere, and could perhaps set up the reason for Halstead’s eventual exit.

Torres has been given the unenviable task of stepping into Halstead’s shoes, but based on what we’ve seen of him so far, we’re confident he can pull it off.

Will Halstead get killed off?. dark. Next
