Chicago Med season 8 release date, cast, synopsis and more

Chicago Med wrapped up season 7 on a tense note. There were major changes for the characters, and two of them, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard), were left in a deadly situation. Trapped in a burning building is not an ideal way to spend an off-season.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what happens. Will the two doctors make it out alive? Will Blake (Sarah Rafferty) regain feeling in her hands and resume her position at Gaffney or will be forced to retire?

Chicago Med season 8 release date

As confirmed by NBC, the new season of Chicago Med will kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8 PM EST! The season 8 premiere will once again kick off the night for One Chicago Wednesdays leading into the Chicago Fire and Chicago PD premieres, respectively.

When does season 8 of Chicago Med start?

The new season of Chicago Med will begin at 8 PM EST on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022! The late September release date is on pace with when we’ve traditionally seen new seasons of the One Chicago series begin.

Med has dealt with a lot of turnover in the last few seasons. Fans were forced to say goodbye to Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), and then to Dr. Stevie Hammer (Kristen Hager), who was brought in to fill the gap and left due to a pregnancy.

Fortunately, there will be two more additions to the Med cast in season 8: Sasha Roiz and Lilah Richcreek. The former will play Jack Egan, and the latter will take on the character of Nellie Cuevas.

Chicago Med season 8 premiere synopsis

The season premiere is titled “How Do You Begin to Count the Losses?” and the synopsis touches on the aftermath of the fire, as well as sets up future conflicts:

"In the aftermath of Halstead’s apartment fire, Marcel, Choi and Archer work together to try to save the survivors; Charles and Med’s new fellow, Cuevas, helps a paranoid patient; Scott makes a life-changing decision."
