Chicago Fire set photos: Where is Kidd’s wedding ring?

Chicago Fire is almost here, but that doesn’t mean the show has finished production. There are still plenty of scenes for the cast to shoot, as evidenced by the onslaught of photos and videos that have been posted to social media.

One such post was made on Hanako Greensmith’s Instagram Stories, and shows several of the Fire cast members sitting around between takes. The photos in question include Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Herrmann (David Eigenberg), Gallo (Alberto Rosende) and Mouch (Christian Stolte).

When did Kidd and Severide get married?

It’s always great to see the cast enjoying each other’s company, but the photos were perhaps more interesting for what they didn’t include, rather than what they did. While the cast appear decked out in their firefighting uniforms, one notable detail was missing: Kidd’s wedding ring.

Kidd’s hands are visible in both photos, and the wedding band that she has been seen wearing during other behind-the-scenes glimpses is nowhere to be found. There are a couple different theories for this discrepancy.

One, the decision could be absolutely intentional on the part of the showrunners. Perhaps Kidd and Severide run into some marital troubles throughout the season, and Kidd’s missing ring is an indicator of their strife. Kidd and Severide may choose to not wear their rings on the job, given how dangerous what they do is.

Of course, the most likely theory is that Miranda Rae Mayo was wearing gloves for the shoot that was photographed, and merely didn’t put on her fictional ring because her hands weren’t visible on screen. TV is full of short cuts like this, and it makes sense given how dangerous the stunts and the action on Chicago Fire can be.
