Taylor Kinney teases crossover scene with Chicago PD

Taylor Kinney is one of the flagship actors of Chicago Fire. He’s been present since the show debuted, and has led all of the crossover episodes that have occurred between Chicago PD and Med.

It should then come as no surprise that the actor loves to interact with the ensembles from these other shows. He recently sat down for an interview with NBC, where he alluded to a PD character he’d love to reunite with, in particular.

Will there be a One Chicago crossover?

Kinney singled out Chicago PD‘s Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) as one of his favorite PD characters, and recalled the classic interaction their characters had the first time they crossed paths.

"“One of the first interactions that Severide had with Platt was, he was at the police station, and she said if they went out, she’d break him like a stick”, Kinney recalled. The actor then went on to say that he’d like to see the two cross paths again, even if it’s to jokingly rib each other. “I would like to see what that would look like”, he added."

The desire to see a One Chicago crossover is not limited to Kinney. The showrunners have been teasing a crossover storyline since 2021, but the pandemic forced them to move things around and ultimately shelve the idea.

Still, there’s hope that we will be getting a crossover sooner than later. Law and Order will have their first three-part crossover when the franchise returns, so it’s clearly within reason that we could get to see Severide and Platt trading barbs in the midst of a sprawling Chicago case.

There’s a bit of a ticking clock with regards to a crossover, since PD star Jesse Lee Soffer has said that he will be leaving the show after season 10. All we can do is cross our fingers that Severide’s hopes for a One Chicago bonanza comes true soon, so that Halstead can get a rousing sendoff.
