Is Guy Lockard leaving Chicago Med? (Will Dylan be back?)

Ever since the Chicago Med season 7 finale aired last May, fans have been questioning whether Guy Lockard could be leaving the show.

To recap, at the end of the season, Lockard’s character Dr. Dylan Scott found himself in a precarious situation when he was trapped with Halstead in his apartment building which had gone up in flames.

The scene created a reasonable cause for concern among fans, but is that fear justified or will Dylan be back in the ED once again this season treating patients alongside Med’s best and brightest?

Is Dylan leaving Chicago Med?

While Dylan did not die in the apartment fire set in the season 7 finale, the fire proved to be a life-altering event for Dylan. After losing Jo in the fire, Dylan did some reflecting and went to see Goodwin to notify her that he had made the decision to leave Med — and it seems the decision has been designed as an exit story for Guy Lockard.

When meeting with Goodwin, he told her that he needed to leave Med to do someplace he could just be a doctor, hinting that his ties to Chicago and history as a cop wouldn’t allow him to truly ever just focus on medicine.

It’s possible we could see Lockard return in the future as the door was left open, but it seems we’ve seen the last of him for now.
