Chicago Fire: Who died in the season 11 premiere?
Chicago Fire is no stranger to death. There have been dozens of characters who have bite the dust over the show’s decade plus, and there are bound to be countless more by the time it goes off the air (which definitely won’t be anytime soon).
Given how often the 51 squad is put in mortal danger, we decided to do a roundup of all of the deaths and close calls that went down during the season 11 premiere. Be warned that the post will contain spoilers for the episode.
Does Kidd die in Chicago Fire season 11?
The premiere opens with Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Mae Mayo) being attacked and shot at by an unnamed henchman. The dangerous situation was teased at the end of last season, but fans could not have guessed that things would escalate to the point that Kidd was nearly executed point blank.
Luckily, Severide came up behind the henchman and stabbed him in the back with a pitchfork. The henchman goes down for the count, but based on the fact that we can hear him groaning in pain, we can assume that he didn’t actually die.

The same can’t be said for the victims at the end of the episode. The 51 squad responds to a fire at a wedding, and by the time they arrive, several of the guests have been trapped in a flaming tent. They manage to get most of the guests out, but as Brett (Kara Killmer) confirms, one of them succumbs to their burns and dies.
It’s a grim note to close things on, but the death feels like one of the events that lead Brett towards her decision to break off her relationship with Casey (Jesse Spencer). The wedding connection lingers as a reminder that life is finite, and coupled with Brett listening to Kyle Sheffield’s story, it pushed her to focus on the things that are in her control.
