Chicago Med came to play in season 8. In addition to the shocking departures and return of certain characters, the medical drama included a dazzling array of cameos from the stars of the other One Chicago shows: Chicago Fire and PD.

While crossovers between two of these shows is relatively common (the Chicago Fire premiere had a cameo from PD‘s Upton), it’s rare that we get characters from all three shows in a single episode. The writers and producers usually reserve this level of interaction for the big crossover events.

Not that we’re complaining. Here’s a rundown of all the surprising (and awesome) cameos that One Chicago characters made on Med.

One Chicago crossover episode 2022

The premiere wastes little time bringing in reinforcements, which makes sense given that two of the show’s main characters are trapped in a burning building. Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard) make it out alive, thanks to the efforts of the 51 squad.

Some of the Chicago Fire characters who spring into action here include Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). They can be seen helping the doctors get to safety, and treating the other victims who made it out alive.

The cameo that may prove more surprising is that of PD‘s Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), who appears on the back end of the episode to provide some much-needed justice. It’s revealed that VASCOM pusher Jessa Rinaldi (Angela Wong Carbone) was the one who started the fire in a last ditch effort to stop Halstead from testifying against her in court.

Burgess comes in and assures the Gaffney team that Rinaldi is not going to jeopardize anyone else’s life. She confronts the criminal in front of Halstead and Dr. Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) and takes her into custody right before she enters the courthouse.
