When is Brian Tee leaving Chicago Med? (What episode?)

Dr. Ethan Choi has left the building. Well, he will be. Deadline revealed that the character will be exiting Chicago Med after eight seasons, and the actor who plays him, Brian Tee, will be relegated to directing future episodes.

The actor stated that he wanted to take time away from Med to focus on his family. He played coy regarding the specific reason why Choi leaves, but he did drop some crucial hints regarding when he leaves.

When is Brian Tee leaving Chicago Med?

While it’s definitely sad to see Tee go, he did reassure fans that the writers came up with a great reason for his character’s departure. He also revealed the specific episode in which it will all go down.

"“What we’ve been planning for Dr. Choi’s sendoff is fitting, and it’s beautiful”, he explained. “I think the fans are going to absolutely love it. It’s going to bring a little bit of the new Ethan and a little bit of the old. Know that episode 9 is going to be an amazing one.”"

Episode 9! While it’s not as close to the season finale as we would hope, it still gives us a handful of episodes until we have to say goodbye proper to Dr. Choi. To further embellish the silver lining, Tee hinted at the possibility that the character could return for a cameo at some point in the near future.

"“If there’s an opportunity to bring him back, I would absolutely jump right in”, Tee added. “For now, it’s just, I’ll see you later. I’ll be back around. You can’t get rid of me.”"

The good news regarding Tee’s comments, beside the fact that he’s willing to keep the door open to returning, is that the possibility of him returning at all means that Dr. Choi will not be killed off or disgraced in a way that renders him gone for good.
